To watch recorded content outside of your network, you will need a geniego. Level 2.DirecTV recently switched the name of its Nomad transcoding device to GenieGo to match its new DVRs, a change we first noticed on its Android app. On Windows PC and iOS the apps are about to get a new update that changes the name and lets users stream video from their DVRs over WiFi even when they're away from home (Mac and Android support is due later in the year.) Previously, it allowed users to stream live and recorded TV, or download recorded TV to a mobile device for viewing offline, but Slingbox-style streaming of live or recorded TV anywhere is new, and brings it closer to the device we thought it could be when it launched. Solid Signal and DBSTalk report the incoming update (not live yet, but it should pop up tomorrow) is easy to use, letting users stream recordings, start a recording so it can stream or remotely setting up the transcoder to make a mobile copy users can download once they get home. The premium channels you want. Download this application on to your computer. It similar to the Nomad mac address, 1 digit less. According to the GenieGo app, installed on my PC listed in System Info, I'm supposed to set Client Name as GenieGo, IP address same as above-"192.168.0.142" and mac address "00:22:1B:08:C8:16". When I go into the DHCP reservation setting the GenieGo shows up as "NomadII08C816" in Client Name field of devices already connected to the router, with an IP address "192.168.0.142" and mac address "00:22:1B:08:C8:17". I have a Linksys E3000 router. Another thing I've noticed, is there appears to be different mac addresses for the GenieGo which I know shouldn't be.
Geniego App Update That ChangesI found that this evening right before I had to leave for work.My issue with the IP address changing is in the System Info of the GenieGo app installed on the PC I'm trying to do an initail setup on. It listed the same IP address "192.168.0.142" and a totally different mac address, "60:02:b4:ab:ab:72". I right clicked and selected properties. I went in there and seen where the GenieGo was listed under wireless devices. Weird? Another strange thing with the mac address for the GenieGo is in the Control Panel-Network Devices map. AFter the updating process I often get "an error occurred while updating the configuration". Mostly it happens after I gather the ip address and ports and using Airport Utility edit my time capsule to update the information. Thanks!Sometimes it happens within seconds if I just close the GenieGo system info window and then reopen it without doing anything else. 08:C8:17.Here is a link to the steps from Directv support in making router settings selecting Linksys-E3000 for router & model:How do I enable GenieGO Out-of-Home Access to stream my recorded movies and shows? | DIRECTV SupportAny help, ideas or thoughts would greatly be appreciated. I figured this was due to entering the same IP address, therefore replacing & discarding the IP address and mac address ending in. Also, I forgot to mention above after initially entering GenieGo app System Info in the DHCP reservation and saving settings the NomadII08C816 Client Name was gone with all of its corresponding data. Nicole richmond dmgEven worse the 15 hours of programs that I downloaded to my ipad disappeared in less than 2 weeks before I even watched one program. The first time I went out of town and it did not work. I have had it set up for "out of home" successfully twice. But since I saw the ip address change on the GenieGo system info page without any router interaction, I refuse to accept that solution. The tech on the phone told me the problem was with my router which is a brand new time capsule. They are sending out a tech with a new unit and I hope this one works. So I rebooted everything and tried again only to find the ip address and ports changing by the minute. Finally today after spending 1 1/2 hours on the phone with the a directv tech I had had enough and told them to send me another unit or I quit.
